The DAMMIT BAND

Vernett Seay Jr

Hailing from the spirited streets of Youngstown, Ohio, Vernett Seay Jr., affectionately known as Vern, emerged as a musical prodigy from an early age. Born and raised on the Southside, Vern's journey into the world of music ignited at the tender age of 13, a spark that would soon blaze into a resplendent career adorned with accolades.

Vern's musical odyssey began with a piano in his aunt's living room, where his youthful fervor found its outlet. A guitar soon joined the ensemble, a gift that sparked an unwavering commitment to perfecting his craft. Guided by lessons and fueled by an insatiable passion, Vern's relentless practice laid the foundation for his future triumphs.

As the years progressed, Vern ventured to Chicago, where he embarked on a decade-long partnership with Ludwig/Musser Industries. Here, he skillfully crafted Marimbas, xylophones, church chimes, and orchestra bells, honing his talents into an art form. His dedication caught the attention of the musical world when he personally created Marimbas for the legendary American vibraphonist, Lionel Hampton. For six transformative years, Vern's hands fashioned instruments that harmonized with Hampton's mesmerizing melodies, solidifying his reputation as a master artisan.

Yet Vern's journey didn't stop at crafting instruments; it extended onto the stage.

He shared his musical prowess as an opening act for acclaimed artists like Blood Stone, Ohio Players, War, and Grover Washington. Each performance was a testament to Vern's ability to captivate audiences and set the stage ablaze with his magnetic energy.

Vern's life story beautifully illustrates the fusion of craftsmanship and musical artistry.

James Daniels

Born in Columbus, Ohio James Daniels’ musical journey began at age 3 when he discovered his mother's Moog Synthesizer. A gifted self-taught musician, at 13 he discovered his passion through an MIDI sequencer given by his mother Mary Daniels locally known as Jazz Mary. Influenced by his mother's guidance and inspired by legends like James Brown and Jimi Hendrix, James joined his first band, Argyle Jones, in high school.

His musical evolution continued with the Quanah Parker Band from 1996 to 2006 and Soul Kitchen from 1996 to 2022. Jame's genre-defying style and dedication left an indelible mark on every stage he graced. His harmonious artistry, fueled by deep love for music, reverberates through time, showcasing his journey from a curious child to a respected musical virtuoso.

Billy Zehnal

From Cleveland's Slavic village, Billy Zehnal's musical journey ignited during his teens. Inspired by the greats such as B.B. King, Koko Taylor and Muddy Waters, a fan of music but it wasn't until his senior year in high school that he really got fueled by the music of Led Zeppelin that forever changed his trajectory.

It was in college, Billy's passion for music blossomed as he immersed himself in his friends' band rehearsals, marking a turning point in his life. A serendipitous moment thrust him onto the stage, where his spontaneous bass performance during a U2 cover changed his life. The next day he went out and bought a bass guitar and the rest is history as they say.

Billy's Collaborations include playing with Playhouse and Angela Perley showcasing his versatility and artistry, leaving an indelible mark on the music scene locally and across the country.

In November of 2021, two incredibly talented minds converged to envision a band's rebirth post-COVID.  Their aspirations crystallized, culminating in the birth of the iconic Shaun Booker Dammit Band in March 2022.

Ronald E. Henderson (Hendu)

Meet Ronal E. Henderson, affectionately known as "Hendu" among friends. Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, Hendu's journey from a self-taught musician to an essential figure in the music scene is an inspiring testament to his unwavering dedication.

After graduating high school at 16 and serving in the US Marine Corps, Hendu's pivotal moment arrived when he stumbled upon a $90 guitar in a Ben Franklin store in Guam . This marked the beginning of his self-guided musical education.

Following a distinguished 25-year career as a Medicare auditor, Hendu embraced his true calling. His rhythmic journey led him to collaborate with renowned acts like the Shaun Booker Dammit Band, the KoKo Taylor Show, and Arnett Howard's Football Friday Night

for an impressive 17 years. Notably, he now holds the drumsticks for Lakeside, celebrated for their hit "Fantastic Voyage."
